Itches start businesses….

…and businesses are attempts to scratch the itch and make it better.

My itch was paperwork. It was the futility of it. The time sucking, stress inducing, bore making monotony of having to deal with post and bills and statements. I really begrudged the time it took from me..and because I begrudged it I delayed doing it and because I delayed I missed deadlines and incurred penalties…which caused me stress and annoyance and reinforced my dislike of bills etc..

Pretty cyclical really when you think about it !

So GetitKeepit is my scratch….but recently I asked myself is it good enough to just be that scratch surely to sustain a movement or business you need to have a base, principles, a cause, a belief.. In short you need to be making a stand.

So what does GetitKeepit stand for…? Well I think we stand for LESS

Less paper certainly, less stress hopefully, less postage, less water, less trees, less confusion, less frustration and less complexity.

When you think about our lives we have too many distractions that absorb our time…and many of these distractions are unnecessary….and paper bills and statements are unnecessary and wasteful. If you need to tell me I owe you for a service don’t send me a letter, don’t waste my time and yours. Let me deal with it online in a way I can clearly understand it, let it come to me ( not me go to your website) and when its gets here let it be self-explanatory, user friendly and convenient. Anything other than that is wasteful.

You don’t need to be a card carrying environmentalist to understand that removing the paper mountain from our hall doors is good for everyone. It is good for all the honourable intentions of being sustainable but as importantly it’s good for require less of us.

There is that word again LESS.
